I tell you what, it feels great traveling internationally to do a gig. It feels even greater knowing your family will be there to greet you upon arrival. Tuesday night’s show was the first show my mother had seen since I moved to Europe two years ago.
During the days leading up to the show, me and the fam got to experience Christmas time in Prague. The markets around town were cooking bramboračky (garlic potato pancakes) and cinnamon rolls, brewing hot wine, and roasting huge hams over an open hickory smoke fire (see video). On random street corners were huge spa sized tubs of carp, apparently left out overnight unattended, next to men slicing and dicing these huge fish for a line of anxious customers.
After getting our xmas fill, the time came for the St. Nicholas Cafe concert. After starting off the show with Two Bottles and welcoming everyone to the show, I quickly learned there’s no “The” in St. Nicholas Cafe…noted Kevin! The cool cave atmosphere of the bar allowed me to play the full version of In Good Time:
I received an early Xmas present during the second set when my sister Tara joined me on the microphone to sing harmonies on “New Destination.” That’s her in the video singing with me!
Thanks to Colin and Caroline for purchasing my CD…I’ll see you in Manchester!
Last but not least, thanks to Brandon Seppa for allowing me to bang on his Taylor guitar during every Prague concert. She’s a real beaut Brando!
